Apple Crisp

Apple Crisp is a classic and cozy dessert! The combo of warm apple crisp and cold vanilla ice cream makes my mouth water. I like a tart crisp apple when making a crisp or pie and my favorite is Mutsu, however they are hard to find so you can use Granny Smith, Cortland, Jonathon or Honey Crisp. This is one of those desserts that is rich and comforting. Drizzle some caramel topping over your crisp and send this dessert over the top good!

Apple Crisp

Ingredients

6 cups of sliced apples

1/3 cup sugar

2 tbsp flour

1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

1 tsp vanilla extract

3 tbsp of apple cider (you can also use apple juice, orange juice, or water)

Crisp Topping

2/3 cup brown sugar

1/2 cup flour

1/3 cup oats

1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

pinch of salt

1/4 cup of melted unsalted butter

Instructions

Combine sliced apples with sugar, flour, cinnamon, vanilla, and juice mixing until apples are evenly coated. Pour apples in a greased 9 x 13 baking dish. To make topping, combine brown sugar, flour, oats, cinnamon and salt. Stir together and then add melted butter. Continue stirring until butter is completely incorporated. Sprinkle topping over apples. Cover and bake in a 350 degree for 20 minutes then uncover and bake for an additional 20 to 30 minutes until the apples are tender and the topping is golden brown and crispy.
