Homemade Corn Dogs

Deep-fried anything is at the heart of fairground food. These hand-held crispy and sweet corn dogs are definitely a classic and favorite food. And kids love to dip the dog into the corn meal batter and watch them fry until they are beautifully golden brown.

Corn Dogs

Ingredients

1 1/2 cups yellow corn meal

1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

1/4 cup sugar

1 tbsp baking powder

1/4 tsp salt

1 1/2 cups milk

1 egg

1 tbsp melted butter

8 count package of hot dogs (I use all beef)

Vegetable oil for frying

1/2 cup all-purpose flour for dusting dogs skewers

Instructions

Mix dry ingredients together. And mix wet ingredients, then pour wet into dry. Stir until well combined. Pour batter into a large cup. Insert skewer in the middle of each hot dog and then roll in flour brushing off excess. Dip hot dog into batter and then place in hot oil. Oil should not exceed 350 degrees or the exterior of corn dog will become too dark and batter inside will not be cooked through.
